We're off! Kuala Lumpur: Reunion and Jet Lag Recovery

Our first destination was Kuala Lumpur. Where we met up again as travel buddies for the first time since our last trip ended 7 months ago! We also aimed to spent a couple of days here recovering from jet lag and tiredness before flying on to Vietnam.

We don't have much to share from our first day, which was mainly spent travelling back and to from the airport and sleeping!

My flight arrived first so I travelled to our hostel to try and get a few hours sleep before going back to meet Rosie. The first two airport trips were good but the third time we ended up on a very ricketty and bouncy bus that struggled to get up the hills on the motoway-it reminded us a bit of our old van... but worse. We were both just wanting to sleep at this point so the journey seemed to take forever and the driver also stopped to get fuel for 10 minutes which didn't help.

We eventually arrived but Rosie's bed wasn't ready yet so we both got in my top bunk to sleep for a few hours-life on the road! I was kind and let Rosie have my pillow. She'd travelled 3 times as long as me so I thought it was only fair!

The next day we were feeling a little more energetic after 10 hours sleep! So we managed to squeeze in a bit of sightseeing in between resting, eating and trying not to pass out from the humidity.
We visited the Petronas towers and KL city center park, the golden triangle, chinatown and the central market.

The traffic here in KL is a bit crazy, but once we got used to the motobikes speeding along the pavements, we were ok! Rosie already crosses the roads like a local so I'm just following her lead. We also worked out the train system which is really clean and easy to use and we even found an overhead pedestrian walkway that meant we could walk from the shopping centres in the Golden Triangle all the way back to the park in air conditioned comfort!
We also spent plenty of time lost down alleys taking the 'local' way as we like to say, but that doesn't make us sound quite so expert so we'll skip over that!

Early night again tonight because we need to get up at 2.30am to catch our flight to Hanoi and start our Vietnamese adventure!
Why do I never think about these early morning schedule issues when I book the tickets!? I just get so excited about a $60 plane ticket...
