Motorbiking to Hoi An

Our next destination in Vietnam is Hoi An. We decided to travel here from Hue via motorbike tour, we thought it would be a bit more interesting than the bus! When we woke up the rain had found us again!

But our guides had come prepared with ponchos, poncho trousers (?), wellies and bags to cover our backpacks - which were tied onto the bag of the bikes.

The first part of the day was WET! But we stayed pretty dry in our outfits and after we came down from the mountains the rain had stopped and there was some blue sky.

I spot some blue sky!

We had to skip the swimming in the waterfall part of the tour, the road was too slippery and the path infested with leeches! But we still saw some great scenery driving up the Hai Van Pass, down to Danang and then onto Hoi An where we got delivered to our hotel.  On the way we stopped at China Beach and climbed up to visit the caves and temples at Marble Mountains.  We were still wearing our wellies for the hike up the mountain - I felt like I was back on the farm, I just needed a bucket of chillies to complete the look!

When we arrived in Hoi An our room had some nice romantic rose petals and swan towels!  I don't think they realised that we were sisters before we arrived!

Hoi An is known as a culinary hotspot.  We have only been here a few hours and we've already eaten A LOT!  Tomorrow we will try and cook ourselves when we try a Vietnamese cooking class....stay tuned :-)
