A busy day in Page, Arizona

Well, we have reached the midway point of our USA road trip distance-wise.  It's time to turn around and start the trip back to Los Angeles.  We're a little sad because we would like to continue the trip even longer, but there is still a lot for us to see on the way back too :-)

First we stopped at the four corners monument - where the four states Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah meet.

Clear skies - FINALLY - Arizona

Four corners

Rosie standing in four states at once!

Next we drove through Monument Valley.  We didn't stay long - Rosie was unimpressed - I think she's been spoilt by the scenery so far!  We continued to Page, Arizona - the site of the Glen Canyon dam.

The following morning we didn't realise that we should have changed time zones again so we accidently got up at 5.45am!  It worked out well because we managed to book on to an 8am tour of Antelope Canyon and still had time to sit in the car park for 40 minutes!

Some fancy canyon shots with the early morning light
Ros inside the canyon, plus a random man!

Next we drove to the Glen Canyon Dam on the edge of town and went on a slightly geeky (but interesting!) tour of the dam. There was really strict security measures to enter the dam and Ros and I entertained ourselves by making fun of the other people who had to remove keys, phones, belts, coins etc one by one in order to clear security. We'd left everything behind except a camera but I guess not everyone goes to the airport as often as us!

Yes, another tourist t-shirt.  I'm still saving on laundry!

After our trip to the van we still managed to squeeze in a quick hike to horseshoe point before lunch!  I guess there is some benefit to getting up at dawn after all!

In the afternoon we risked driving the van down onto one of the Lake Powell beaches.  There were plenty of massive RVs camping on the beach so we figured it was solid enough for our little van.  We spent a bit of time at the beach and then retired pretty early to the campsite, we'd had a busy day!

  1. Marie & Rosie, you are certainly filling your days! That's some very impressive scenery. Rosie, you look taller or it just the view from the bottom of the ladder? Marie, you actually look tanned!
Jon & I had a full day skiing lesson yesterday at Chill Factor e but I think my body is seized up today; spent more time walking up the slope sideways than coming down! Did not get to go on ski lift until late afternoon and we started the lesson at 8am. Simon did his 2 hours of proper skiing in the afternoon. Take care, see you soon xx
