Grand Teton National Park

We spent our final morning in Yellowstone visiting our final geysers at West Thumb geyser basin.  Then we drove south out of the park to Grand Teton National Park and our last stop on the trip before we turn the van around and start the long trip back to Vancouver.

Goodbye Yellowstone

Hello Grand Teton

As we drove towards Grand Teton something strange happened....it started to get warm!!!!  We went on a walk around the Lakeshore Trail at Colter Bay.  Then in the afternoon we went to our campsite, put on shorts and flip flops and sat outside in the sunshine reading our kindles.  It was very different, and nice!  No purple marshmallow anoraks, no woolly hats, no thermals or frozen fingers - very strange!

Some bird life photos for Mum and Dad

Not sure where my backpack is, perhaps I made Rosie carry everything that day....

In the evening we drove to the Oxbow Bend lookout for wildlife spotting.  We didn't see much wildlife but we still enjoyed the views and sunset.

Still Yellowstone

The following day we moved to the south of the park driving alongside the steaming Yellowstone river and through Hayden Valley.

We stopped to see the Sulphur Canyon and Mud Volcano.

Giant hand?

Old van gets a rest

We drove on to Old Faithful and waited with the crowds for it to erupt.  We were a little early for the next predicted eruption so we listened to a ranger talk about bears and bear safety while it was just bubbling away quietly and waited for the eruption.  We then went to the Old Faithful Inn for bison burgers and huckleberry lemonade.

After lunch we did the short hike to Mystic Falls and visited the Grand Prismatic Spring.

Getting back down the hill....

More bison

We drove to Grant Village campsite at 5pm and it had just filled up. Luckily we had a reservation again.  It's a good thing I had all that time to plan while I was saving up in Perth.

Someone's still hungry...!
